Since the late 90s, our members from all over Central Oregon have promoted the raising of sheep for wool and the use of their fiber in practical and artistic activities - spinning, weaving, felting, and more!

The mission of High Desert Wool Growers is to promote all aspects of the sheep and fiber animal industry with no bias toward operation size or breed. HDWG aims to provide a networking organization for individuals within the industry in Central Oregon’s high desert region. Together, we provide education about fiber animals and fiber art, support youth fiber animal projects, and build community.

Small Farm Businesses

HDWG seeks to promote fiber animals for the small farm operation. We aim to be a resource for fiber folks from all backgrounds - no herd required. Whether you’re an avid fiber artist, interested in getting started or a life-long farmer, you’re welcome here.

Fiber Market Day

For 25 years, we have hosted Fiber Market Day - a community event to gather fiber enthusiasts from across the Pacific Northwest. This one-day event held each spring features education, exhibition, and a fiber market. Filled with farmers and artists sharing their incredible handmade natural fibers with the people who appreciate them.

Educational Opportunities

Several times each year, we have opportunities to provide education regarding breeds of fiber animals, types of fiber, and ways to process and use fiber. Some of this is via displays at our excellent local county fairs. Our group shares sales space at Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival. At times, other occasions present themselves with local schools or community programs.
