It's a very extra warm summer, so far, but seems progress is being made for getting events, businesses, etc. back up to speed. Our local fairs in our tri-county area of Jefferson, Deschutes, and Crook counties are all happening, with some modifications, but when my husband and I attended yesterday it still felt like fairs are coming back! Farmers markets seem to be going strong as ever.
Our Fiber Market Day, although lighter than usual in vendor numbers, went really well for most and some had their best sales ever! For 2022 the date will be either late May or early June; that should be decided soon and we will begin to get that info out to all the online event listings where we can publish in advance (considering that we don't to overlap or be too close to Fiber Fusion NW, which is also looking at date options for next year). We typically pass on an August meeting, since it is right after many are busy with the fairs, so our next meeting will be September 19. We plan to have our sales space at OFFF in October, hopefully in the sheep barn as usual, but since that is also a new date and location we will find out what that's going to be. Also, last fall we held a Farm Day at one of our local farms NE of Redmond, OR, and tentatively we have discussed holding that event again as well since those that participated really enjoyed the day, November-ish. Stay cool! (literally, of course...) Lynne for HDWG (image is Barb, judging fleece for the Jill Pot contest at Fiber Market Day)
